We are excited to announced that the Companies Tribunal (the Tribunal) and the University of Pretoria (UP) signed a collaboration framework on 7th February 2024. The purpose of signing this collaboration framework is to establish clear guidelines on how the two parties are going to work in manner that is mutually beneficial. UP was represented by Prof. Elsabe Schoeman, Dean: Faculty of Law, while the Tribunal was represented by Mr Selby Magwasha, the Acting Chief Operations Officer.

The collaboration framework will focus on five main areas:

• Seminars, conferences and workshops.
• Public engagements through road shows.
• Guest lectures at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
• Research.
• Moot court collaboration.

Signing the collaboration framework is a significant milestone in advancing the mandate of the Tribunal. This framework will be more beneficial to students because they will gain company law experience through conducting research, guest lectures, seminars or conferences, and participating in moot court on the nature of the cases that the Tribunal handles. Prof. Phumudzo Munyai, the Head of Department: Mercantile law, appreciated the signing and stated this initiative is driven by two institutions dedicated towards making an impact in society.
