The Companies Tribunal (the Tribunal), in partnership with the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Commercial Law Department, invites you to a seminar relating to the Tribunal’s mandate.
The Tribunal is established in terms of section 193 of the Companies Act 71 of 2008 (the Act) to adjudicate applications made in terms of the Act and provide Alternative Dispute Resolution for companies. It has jurisdiction throughout the Republic of South Africa, performs its functions impartially and without fear, favour or prejudice and in a transparent manner.
The seminar will focus on the role of the Tribunal in four types of applications provided for under the Act:
For each topic or session, the audience will hear an internal view from the Tribunal and an external view of representatives from companies, academia and law firms.
